For whom?
This course is intended for those who work as graphic designers, original designers, ADs or have equivalent tasks and who produce accessible documents and PDFs in InDesign.
To get the most out of this course, we recommend that you first take the course Introduction to creating accessible documents.
About the course
During this course, you will not only learn the technical aspects of accessible document production in InDesign, but also how to think about the content of the original production to facilitate post production in Adobe Acrobat Pro. We will go through various tips and tricks on how you can facilitate the work along the way.
Course content
During the course you will learn about:
- Workflows and how to work in the process of making PDF files fully accessible in the pre-work in InDesign.
- Accessible document structure.
- Accessible internal and external links.
- Footnotes and endnotes.
- Colour contrast and colour blindness, tools and techniques.
- Designing accessible tables.
- Appropriate text options for images, charts and infographics.
- Text formatting and paragraph formats.
- Available fonts.
- Language management available forms.
- Some post-processing in Acrobat Pro linked to pre-processing in InDesign.
- Accessibility check of the document in Acrobat Pro.
After completing this course
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Utilize workflows and know how to work the process of making pdf files fully accessible during pre-production in InDesign.
- Understand the available document structure.
- Properly use internal and external links, footnotes, and endnotes.
- Properly use colour contrast and colour blindness, tools and techniques as well as design accessible tables.
- Understand appropriate text options for images, charts and infographics. along with text and paragraph formatting.
- Work correctly when using available fonts, language management, and available forms.
- Understand when to do certain post-work in Acrobat Pro which is connected to the pre-work in InDesign.
- Do an accessibility check of the document in Acrobat Pro.
How is the course delivered?
The course consists of two parts; a recorded course followed by a teacher-led one-day live session.
Self-paced course on-demand
With this self-paced course, you get a basic overview, but also the opportunity to focus on selected areas that you have a particular need for. You can access the course when it suits you. The course is divided into parts - take one or more at a time. You can also use the course as a knowledge base; the search function makes it easy to find what you need.
