Meta-Funka Accessibility Hackathon 2022
Meta* (formerly known as Facebook) and Funka are once again co-organising a virtual Hackathon on accessibility and inclusion, celebrating the European Week of People with Disabilities. Students and recent university graduates from across Europe are invited to participate and pitch a product or idea that promotes digital accessibility and inclusion.
The first Meta – Funka Accessibility Hackathon was a great success, and we are happy to make it into a tradition.
Important dates:
- Submission deadline 30 October
- Live streamed final 30 November
Are you up for the challenge?
The aim of the Hackathon is to create innovative digital solutions for increased accessibility. The solutions could be for a programme, a full app, a tool, or any digital solution intended to promote equal access for persons with disabilities.
During the previous Hackathon, the innovative solutions included:
- a digital assistant app and device to help guide people with low vision or people with cognitive disabilities through a supermarket and find their items;
- an accessibility support ticket browser plug-in that makes it easy for users to report accessibility issues and for web developers to replicate and fix them;
- a chatbot which aims to combat social isolation through digital technology.
Who knows – maybe this year your will submit the winning entry?

Any student or recent university graduate, as well as any group of maximum 3 students or graduates over the age of 18 and resident in Europe can take part in the event, free of charge.
