Webinar: Speech as a digital tool

Speech-controlled services and devices are more and more becoming a part of our daily lives, and many people benefit from using them. What happens, though, when speech is the only tool of controlling such services? How do they work for people who stutter or have other speech impairments?

The Swedish Stuttering Association and Funka are working together in a new and exciting project on digital accessibility for people who stutter. On the October 22nd, 2021 we celebrated the International Stuttering Awareness Day by organising an online event where we presented the project.

The webinar also offered a panel discussion where representatives from public sector, industry and end users reflected upon what currently is most important for people who stutter, what kind of problems speech-controlled services cause for people who stutter and how this often forgotten aspect of accessibility can be improved.

The webinar was recorded.
