Difi chooses Funka to develop indicators
The Agency for Public Management and eGovernment, Difi, is the Norwegian public authority responsible for supervising regulations on accessibility in IT. In the important work of developing indicators and measuring methodology to follow up the Anti-Discrimination and Accessibility Act, DTL, Funka has been assigned by Difi to develop:
- Benchmarking and ranking tools to measure how websites comply with WCAG 2.0
- Testing methodology and documentation for regular measurements
- Interpretation of test results
- Quality assurance
It will be exciting to develop a set of indicators for accessibility in IT in cooperation with Funka, comments Malin Rygg, Head of Unit at Difi. Indicators and measuring methodology will constitute a central part of Difi’s body of knowledge. This will contribute so that we can target the information and guidance material we offer via the website uu.difi.no. As a public authority we are engaged in having a good decision-basis, where status overviews and analyses based on indicators we will develop in this project will play an important part.
On July 1st in 2013 the Norwegian law on accessibility in IT came into place. It is based on the Anti-Discrimination and Accessibility Act of 2009, that stipulates that all new IT solutions must be accessible as from July 1st 2014, and existing IT solutions at the latest by January 1st 2021. The regulations are based on international guidelines of accessibility in IT WCAG 2.0 AA, with some exceptions.
Funka is grateful for the confidence and look forward to continuing our rewarding collaboration.
