Funka appointed as G3ict/IAAP joint Representative to the European Union

G3ict, the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs, and its affiliate IAAP, the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, has appointed Funka and its CEO Susanna Laurin as their joint representative to the European Union.

We are exited about this assignment, says Susanna Laurin. The work of G3ict and IAAP is extremely important and we are happy to help in the efforts of promoting accessibility throughout Europe.

Funkas assignment includes supporting G3ict and IAAP activities in Europe in several areas:

  • accessibility certification for professionals
  • web accessibility training
  • specialist exams for web developers
  • training in accessible digital content
  • certificates of proficiency for knowledge workers

And also sharing of good practices in implementing policies, not least in public procurement.

With this step, G3ict takes an important step towards making IAAP truly international. There will be similar activities in other parts of the world as well.

The new representation is officially announced in Brussels on October 20th, in the occasion of meetings organized with European Commission officials.
