The Greek NGO ALLIEGI is promoting a multidisciplinary community based program oriented to improve the skills, knowledge and social connectivity of independently living older adults 60+ , and thus improve their quality of life and resilience.

This program was initiated in January 2019 . Its goal is to improve the skills, knowledge and social connectivity of independently living older adults 60+ , and thus improve their quality of life and resilience. Each cycle of group participation will be for 3 months and it will include the following activities:
- Activities of cognitive empowerment and psychological support workshops of 3 hours including speech and attention, mindfulness and relaxation, and cognitive stimulation exercises via PC. Additionally, psychological counselling is provided by special psychologists with the cognitive behavioural approach, on issues related to the healthy aging.
- Cinema screenings and discussion
- Speeches of general interest (every second Saturday at 6.00 pm in the speech hall of APOSTOLOS PAVLOS) open to the public.
- Special lectures like: "Laughing in Our Life" "Activities and Healthy Aging" Nutritional topics.
- Traditional Cretan Dance
- Choir
- Visits to primary schools - to share Cretan traditions with the younger generations including traditional dances and festivals
- Monthly Social gathering weekly for coffee and social connectivity.
- Visits to museums with guide (Historical Museum, Museum of Natural History, Heraklion Archaeological Museum).
- Excretions to nearby town with educational
- Educational and recreational activities (optional) such as the learning of key elements of HY (facebook, skype, e-mail, internet), creation of self-organizing groups, initiation of the idea of volunteering and quality of life (aiming and sustainability of the program as well as its continuation) as well as photography, exercise games ie pick-pog.
The major outcome measures will be QoL and resilience.
The current funding would support a total of 100 participants.
